Celebrity Ascent - to November 13, 2025

Monday - Gibraltar - We didn't have any plans other than to walk around town, which we have done a few times, so we took advantage of a quiet ship. The weather was superb and we had a beautiful view of Gibraltar from the pool deck. One of the evenings entertainment was done by the cast of Eden called 'Smoke and Ivories'. It was a fast paced scene of a speakeasy, with truly remarkable energy. Afterwards, we went to the late show (9pm) to watch 'Life is Music' by Salvatore Hasard. It was a fabulous performance.

Tuesday - at sea (and will be for the next six days). In the morning, lectures, then after lunch Dale joined up for a juggling course, and after that we joined a drawing class. We met up with Kim and Mike for a lovely dinner in the Cyprus dining room. After dinner featured saxophonist Tommy Proulx followed by the 'Love and Marriage' game show - always entertaining.

Wednesday - lectures, lunch, juggling, and drawing. Dinner with Kim and Mike followed by Showtime with Pablo Canovas - an amazing illusionist. We then headed to Eden to await another wonderful performance by the Eden cast. While waiting, we played another fun game of Five Crowns. The show was 'Allure'.

Thursday - lectures, lunch, juggling and drawing. Dressed up Chic for dinner and listened to Karen Grainger, an amazing female impressionist vocalist. Afterwards we met up with Kim and Mike and watched the game show Pitfall, then Dale and Kim pulled out their cel phones to play an interactive game called Timeplay - they did pretty well for first timers.

Friday - lectures. lunch, juggling and drawing. We met up with Kim and Mike for dinner then headed for the theatre to watch Kyle Esplin do magic on the piano. Afterwards we tried to keep up with the gameshow The Duel - again, not bad for first timers.

Saturday - Dale got the day off as the two brother Captains, Tasos & Dimitrios Kafetzis were doing a presentation about the ship. They are very entertaining, both with a great sense of humour. After lunch, one of the theatre cast, Molly Kane, did a tribute to Adele. It was a great performance and Molly could have passed for Adele. Our drawing class focused on faces and the proportions and placement of features. It was very informative. After a new show by Savatore Hasard in the theatre called 'In the Air Tonight', we headed for Eden to await their show 'Shimmerbox'. While we waited we got in another game of Five Crowns with Kim and Mike.

Sunday - lectures, lunch, Dale did his juggling and I went to the Matinee by Pablo Canovas, the illusionist. Our drawing class was about 'The Secrets of Great Art. After dinner, the Theatre Production Cast put on their 'Awaken' performance.

Monday - Bermuda - We had booked a Glassbottom and Sightseeing Cruise - while the coral wasn't as colourful as in warmer seas, we were treated to a very interesting narrative on what we did see. The shipwreck was almost obliterated by sand and coral, but it made a great refuge for all the fish and plants. After dinner with Kim and Mike, Savannah Smith was the vocalist in the theatre and she did a great job as usual.

Tuesday - Being Remembrance Day, Dale gave his talk on Vimy Ridge. Afterwards the Captains and the officers and the Cruise Director Darren, and activity manager Wez, held a really nice service in the theatre. Savannah Smith did an all new matinee in the theatre. As the seas were too rough for a production show, they featured one of their resident pianists, Tom McCormick.

Wednesday - our last sea day. Dale had the day off so we went to see Mark's talk about the movie 'Casablanca'. Kyle Esplin held a matinee in the Club, which I caught some of after packing and catching the last few rays of sunshine. The cast of dancers, singers, acrobats and aerialists did a beautiful show in the theatre called 'Residency', which featured famous acts from Las Vegas.

Thursday - caught our flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Dallas, then on to Vancouver. We arrived too late to get home, so we stayed at the Fairmont hotel at the airport and caught a flight home in the morning.
