All went well with the flights (code share with United Airlines) until we reached the airport in San Francisco, when our luggage didn't show up!!! Dale, of course, pulled out his phone and searched for the AirTags while we were waiting at the lost luggage counter. Apparently, our suitcase was right below us, but no one was able to locate it for us. So, they assured us that it would be sent to our hotel asap. I was very hesitant to leave the airport without it, but again we were reassured that they would get it to us in time for our early departure for the ship the next morning. We got on the bus in the morning still missing our suitcase, feeling very helpless and dreading a week in the same clothes! Thankfully, Dale kept calling them as it was tracked down to the Crown Plaza, just a bit too late to meet up with us. However, after we had boarded the ship, Dale got the call to meet the next bus and we were reunited with our clothes!!!
The rest of the trip has been seamless and much more relaxing! We met up with our friends Ross and Giselle and Linda and Rod and had a lovely reunion at dinner. The first evening's entertainment highlighted Katia & Zenia in 'Dance Fever' - where they featured many different ballroom dances. It was beautiful. We had three full days at sea, so Dale did his talks to a great audience. The first day after lunch we took a Salsa dance class then watched the Naturalist Simon, talk about whales. Michael Washington did his show 'Ray, the Soulful Legend' paying homage to Ray Charles with many of his famous hits. Mike Wilson, comedian also had a show in the Fusion Lounge afterwards. Day 2 we had a relaxing afternoon by the pool, and as it was a formal night we were treated to the Production Show 'Stardust', followed by the game show 'Yes or No'. Day 3 we had a quiet morning as Dale talked in the afternoon. Showtime was 'Illusions' starring Elliott Hunter - over the top entertainment; then on to the game show 'Majority Rules'.
We were now in La Paz, Mexico. Our friends took the 1/2 hour bus ride into the city, but we opted to visit the local market near the ship and watched the movie 'Arthur, the King'. Showtime featured Don Ellis Gatlin with a tribute to Musical Heroes. Afterward, there was another comedian, Steve Caouette who did a hilarious show in the Fusion Lounge.
Next up Mazatlan. We took a water taxi to Stone Island for a delightful afternoon. We had a lovely walk with Ross and Giselle, to a restaurant called Nena, where for the price of lunch (we had fish tacos), we were given lounge chairs, umbrellas, lemonade and chips and salsa. The weather was perfect, although the water was chillier than expected. The Production Show was 'Colors of the World'; the game show was 'True or Moo' and then we stayed up for the late night comedy of Steve Caouette (well worth it!).
Cabo San Lucas was our next port. We had a late start, as we had to use the tenders to get ashore. The beach was much further away than we expected and it was quite hot. Ross and Giselle hung in there with us, and after we cooled down a bit walking in the surf, we took a water taxi back to the marina to catch the tender back to the ship. After dinner they had a Folkloric group come onboard to put on a great show, then we watched the game show 'Survey it'.
The ship stayed overnight in the bay at Cabo San Lucas, so after breakfast we went ashore with Ross and Giselle, to find a closer beach for a dip. The water was chilly to get into at first, then felt wonderful. Along the way we stopped at a market and bought a cute little handmade Christmas ornament that Giselle found. We caught sight of Poncho, the famous, enormous sea lion, plus a pal of his at the boat ramp. Showtime was Comedy Juggler Michael Connell.
