After a very long flight, we arrived in Rome and picked up our rental car (definitely easier with an international driver's licence).
It was about an hours drive to Tolfa, a beautiful medieval village below the Frangipani Fortress. After we settled in to our B&B, we walked around the village and found a grocery store. Pesto pasta and salad for dinner - very Italian!
The next day we hiked up to see the 9th century fortress and the beautiful village and countryside all around it. With still a bit of jet lag, we succumbed to an afternoon nap, before heading out for a freshly baked pizza for dinner.

Half way up
The other half still to go
Amazingly thick walls
A fairly intact tower
