Celebrity Silhouette - PEI, Portland Maine, Boston

Thursday we were at sea so we listened to lectures. The first was on the colours of PEI by the naturalist; the second was on the Titanic, and the third was later in the evening on The Great Canadian Maple Heist. The Production show in the theatre was Boogie Wonderland; a stunning show of singing, dancing, acrobatics and aerials.

Friday was a bit drizzly in PEI, so we caught up with emails, etc. then went on a walking tour after lunch. Leslie McDonel was the headliner in the theatre with a tribute to famous rock and roll female vocalists. She did a great job.

Saturday was a sea day, so Edward did a couple of talks on Portland's Tasty Lobster Heritage. It was very timely as we had some very tasty lobster for dinner. The evening's headliner was Avionce Hoyles who did a tribute to Tina Turner.

Sunday we arrived in Portland, Maine where we had to be processed through immigration. It took a few hours, but we were called to go ashore by group numbers, so at least it wasn't hours in line ups as we waited in the comfort of the ship. Once in town, we walked around the old town, watched a street full of skateboarders, and had a lobster roll (of course) which is famous there. The Production Show in the theatre was On Broadway, which went above and beyond! It was spectacular.

Monday - back to reality! Our flight to Vancouver didn't leave until 7pm and we had to be off the ship by 9:30am so Dale found a really neat alternative to sitting all day at the airport. We took a water-taxi from the ship to the downtown harbour of Boston. They kept our luggage for us and we got tickets for a trolley tour of the city. We rode the whole way round the first time, as we had a great driver that talked the whole way, with very interesting historical information. The second time around we got off at the Paul Revere house and park, then got on again to do a short stop at the Copp's Hill Burying Ground. We then walked to the Old North Church which was where the lantern signal was sent - one if by land, two if by sea.

After that, we walked the Freedom Trail through little Italy. We found a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant called Galleria Umberto Rosticceria, where the pizza had just come out of the oven and the beer was cold. It was lovely to sit for a while before resuming our walk back to the ferry. We sat outside at the Dandelion Café for coffee before hopping back on the ferry (with our luggage) for the trip to the airport. The weather was perfect. The flight was 5.5 hours, so we got to Joel's around 11:30 (minus our large suitcase, which apparently went to Calgary). Went to Cora's with Joel for a nice breakfast and visit, and a walk before heading to the ferry. Home safe and sound, and our suitcase showed up - yay!
