Sydney to Tasmania - Majestic Princess

A Formal night and we thoroughly enjoyed another Production Show Sweet Soul Music by the new cast. They are so professional. Some repeat vocalists before arriving at Port Arthur.

What an experience that was. The entire peninsula was a penal colony and is now an amazing outdoor museum. There was also coal mining, brick making, timbering and quarrying done by the convicts as well as building the entire colony from scratch (including the penitentiary). They had to grow their own fruit and vegetables and care for the livestock – all under harsh and cruel conditions. The site is amazing and it took us the better part of the day to see it all. What a great history lesson – much more interesting than reading a textbook.

We then did a lovely Harbour Cruise and saw The Isle of the Dead https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_the_Dead_(Tasmania)

and Point Puer Boy's Prison.
