Galapagos

Wednesday - A very easy morning visiting Post Office Bay, Floreana Island.  There was a barrel for anyone to place a postcard and other visitors could take them and deliver or post them if they lived near the addressee.  This started back in the whaling days and has continued every since.  A little walk on the beach then back for leisure time and seeing the stingrays then an early lunch before snorkelling at Champion and Punta Cormorant, Floreana Island.

The snorkelling was very chilly and thankfully we missed seeing the sharks - that would have been too scary for me!  But we saw lots of colourful fish and coral.  Back to the ship for hot cinnamon tea.

The afternoon nature walk was at Punta Cormorant, Floreana.  Here we saw more blue footed boobies, sea lions and flamingos.  The white one is a baby and our guide was so excited to see it that we felt quite honoured.

Thursday - Cerro Dragon, Santa Cruz Island - meaning dragon hill because of all the land iguanas here.  They are different in colour from the black marine iguanas we saw earlier, and much shyer, so we were very lucky to see a dozen or so along our two hour walk.

After lunch we had a nature walk and leisure time at the beach.  They had hoped more flamingos would be there, but no luck.  The beach was beautiful - the softest white sand - so believe it or not we both went in for a swim!!!
