Vimy April 11

April 11th I just changed the title to show the date instead of how long we have been here Today started out with us moving from our cute little B&B - La Cour des Grands in Saint Nicolas near Arras. Then back to the Farm House with the rest of the crew in Douchy-les-Ayette. Several of us in the group went on a tour of Maison Blanche near Neuville-Saint-Vaast, which is located across the street from the largest German Cemetery - St. Vaast German War Cemetery, which we visited afterwards. The underground quarry that we visited was extraordinary. Many Canadians carved beautiful engravings and inscriptions into the soft chalk before they went into battle. Again, another tribute to the brave and fallen soldiers. The largest was a sculpture of a post box, as back in the day, mail was an extremely important and anticipated event.
