Vimy April 15

A last visit to the Vimy Monument.  Darwin did the tunnel tour whilst Dale and I visited the new museum.  It is definitely worth seeing.

Lunch in Arras after a quick look at the local market, then on to Lille to visit one of our new friends here.  Delphine has been working with the guys and helping out with a myriad of logistics.  Unfortunately, while she was translating for the C-17 crew, a pallet slipped and slammed into her leg, just above her ankle.  The worst was imagined at first and although grave, it is just one break - a diagonal fracture of her tibia just above the ankle.  Not great, but not the worst that we feared.  Still, Delphine has to wait until Wednesday for surgery as they need the swelling to go down.  She is in good spirits and it was wonderful to catch up with her and also to meet her lovely parents.

Coming home was another adventure.  There was an accident on the A25, so Dale veered off the highway into Lille centre-ville to avoid the traffic.  It added a half hour to our journey, but we really enjoyed the buildings and the scenery of Lille.  What a beautiful city.  The picture of the three buildings coming out of a very large roof, was just a tidbit of the interesting architecture, old and new.
