Vimy April 14

A planning meeting this morning at the Farm House before going off to the hangar in Lens for Dale and Darwin to finish packing up some of the airplane stuff.

Then it was off to Ypres and the Bedford House Cemetery, the Commonwealth Cemeteries and the Menin Gate.  No matter what or where our destination, we always pass several more cemeteries of various sizes and occupants.  Never before has it hit home so fervently, how many souls were lost.  And these cemeteries don't include civilian casualties - mothers, fathers, grandparents, uncles, aunts and children.  It is still shocking and heart wrenching.
