Ruby Princess - part 2 Hilo, Hawaii & Honolulu, Oahu

Apparently we had the best weather that Hilo has had in weeks. There have been torrential rains and there are puddles everywhere to prove it. Hilo is not famous for its beaches, so we caught an Uber to Coconut Island with a beautiful tiny beach just for us (no one else could fit if they wanted). We had a swim and a dip, then walked across to the beautiful Japanese Garden before heading back to the ship for lunch. Showtime was the vocal group Legacy - they did some great numbers.

Honolulu, Oahu - Dale was off to the north shore today to take in the sights, while I went to Waikiki Beach for a lovely swim then wandered around town doing a bit of shopping. Dinner was great as usual then we had an early night, as we are now paying back all the extra hours we got on our way here.

At sea - after an interesting talk on lava, Dale was back at the podium. It was a lovely day, so after lunch we took the afternoon off and sat around the pool deck followed by our usual hot tub. Our evening's entertainment on this formal night was called Magic To Do - it was amazing.

At sea - our Cruise Director Micca gave a very informative talk on life aboard a cruise ship (it's great if you are young). After Dale's presentation we enjoyed another leisurely afternoon. After dinner in the theatre was a wonderful musician and trumpeter, Dan Delgado, followed by a very fun and slightly risqué Liar's Club.

At sea - another interesting view into the life of the singers, dancers and entertainers aboard, followed by Dale talking about Air Shows. We watched a movie in the afternoon called American Traitor - very thought provoking. Our evening's entertainment was a tribute to Queen by Kathryn Relf in the theatre, followed by comedian Jim McDonald in Club Fusion. Both very entertaining acts.

At sea - after the talk on endangered species in Hawaii, the Captain came on for a Q&A, followed by Dale. Showtime was called The Modern Vintage with vocal instrumentalist Mikey Votano in the theatre, and again in Club Fusion was a new show by comedian Jim McDonald.

At sea - Hawaiian Myths talk in the morning, and Dale got to talk about Vimy Flight in the afternoon.
Peter Cutler was the vocalist/comedian in the theatre and then we watched the Marriage Match game show, which is always a hoot!

At sea - final day! Of course there was the Culinary Demonstration in the theatre, which is always funny, then Dale did his final presentation on Howard Hughes. After a leisurely lunch, we started packing up. We did fit in some time by the pool before Voice of the Ocean and then dinner. The evening's entertainment was a variety show with guest artists from some of the previous shows. Afterwards they filled the stage with crew members from all over the ship to say farewell. It was delightful.

Back to Vancouver to pick up our car from Joel's and bring him home with us, as he has taken a week off. A great way to end our trip!
