South Africa - Plettenberg Bay

It was a long day to travel from Portugal to Plettenberg Bay, via Heathrow, Cape Town then on to George. But it was well worth it when we were greeted by our dear friends, Corinne and Alan, who then proceeded to take us around and show us some of their favourite spots.

We had a lovely dinner at their beautiful house followed by a special dessert prepared by Alan and the first of many of Corinne's wonderful cappuccinos, and started to catch up on all of our collective news and adventures.

After a leisurely morning visit with their friends Jill and Auret, and then out to Arch Rock to watch the dolphins in the waves, we ended up at the Roadside CafĂ© in the Piesand Valley for a fabulous lunch. Their menu was extensive, but we finally managed to make a decision. There was also a lovely craft shop and some farm animals and gardens. https://www.plett-tourism.co.za/restaurant/roadside-cafe/

We then stopped at Lookout Beach for a nice long walk. Next was the Market Off Main and dinner at the Asian Kitchen. https://www.plettgetaways.com/news/market-off-main

A real highlight for us was the Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre where we had the most delightful and informative guide. We just can't say enough good things about Mandy and Len and their huge contribution to and for these animals. It is truly an amazing Place.

Afterwards we stopped at Nature Valley for another fantastic walk on yet another fabulous beach before heading to Enrico's in Keurboomstrand for a late lunch of gourmet pizza and some really good dealcoholized beer - Devil's Peak Hero.

Old Nick's Market on Wednesday morning was the venue for an open market with beautiful crafts and local produce. We picked up some delicious quiche and pasties for lunch. https://www.plett-tourism.co.za/activity/wednesday-market-at-old-nick-village/

On our way to the Beacon Isle Hotel to pick up our rental car, we stopped at the Sky Villa Hotel for a great view of Plettenberg Bay. Then whilst the guys sorted out the car, Corinne and I stopped for tea and cappuccino with another gorgeous view. Adi's Kitchen was another favourite of Corinne and Alan's, so of course, it was great. https://www.plett-tourism.co.za/restaurant/adis-kitchen/
