Hellgate, Grants Pass, CA

Ok, so it wasn't as scary or wet as I had thought.  In fact, the trip downriver was mostly peaceful.  Lots of wildlife, such as the Turkey Vultures you can see, several Blue Heron, Canada Geese (of course), Eagles, Hawks, Deer, a River Otter, and many friendly Homo Sapiens waving as we cruised by.  Our boat driver did do one relatively calm 360° turn, but as it was still fairly cool out, he didn't want to get us too wet before our champagne brunch (which was delicious and plentiful at the OK Corral).  After lunch was a different story.  It had warmed up considerably and most of the crazy people on our boat wanted to get wet!  We had researched 'what not to do' and were comfortably ensconced in the centre of the boat, near the stern.  Thankfully, it wasn't too windy and the spray didn't carry back to us in too great a volume and we came away relatively unscathed.  I must say, the driver tried to soak everyone, and the several 360° turns were impressive, but I ducked and covered enough to be only slightly damp upon reaching the shore.  All in all, it was a fun excursion/adventure, and something to be seriously considered on a hot day.
