Maui, Hilo, Kona and Hauai

Maui – Had a wonderful excursion to the Aquarium of Hawai’I – Maui Ocean Center.
It is a catch and release facility and they also raise turtles to 3+ years and are recolonizing them as well as coral reefs. What a great place.  Margaret, Laura would love this place.  We had such an amazing time we forgot to take pictures, but at least Dale got this one of phosphorescent coral.
Oh yes, and I forgot – we had a large pod of dolphins swim past our tender on the way back to the ship – beautiful!

Hilo, Hawai’i – only went ashore for a quick bout of internet, then back to the ship for a swim, lunch, a movie, and a lovely read on a deck chair in the shade – what a lovely day!

Kona, Hawai’i – took a bus trip to the Royal Kona Coffee Store – sampled lots of coffee and tea and had a little walk through of a lava tube.  Learned lots about coffee.  Then we were off to Pu’uhonua O Honaunau, which translates to ‘Place of Refuge at Honaunau’.  This cultural site is a restored ancient Hawaiian religious sanctuary (love the statues - especially the back!)  After a scenic drive along the shore we returned to the ship for lunch, then back to shore for a dip in the ocean!  Yes, I did it again!  Will wonders never cease?!

Off to Opaekaa Falls in Kauai today!  We also toured a plantation on an antique train which had too many crops (especially different fruits) to mention.  A beautiful island!

We will be at sea for the next 5 days, so won't have any photos to share.  Dale will be doing some of his talks.  Our next stop is Papeete, Tahiti!
