Mahón, Minorca

Mahón, Minorca or Menorca (both are acceptable) - along with Mallorca, part of the Balearic Islands.

We got to tour two archaeological sites from 1100 – 550 BC – Torre d’en Galmés and Torralba.  Not much is known about this civilization, but the sites are well preserved and the round foundations of the houses are clearly marked as are such things as kitchens, bedrooms, eating areas, etc.  They were apparently self-sufficient with each household doing weaving, food procurement and preparation, clay making, etc.  A most interesting day.  We then went to the top of their ‘mountain’ which offers views of the entire island. A beautiful place.  Afterwards, we walked around the old historical Mahón - stunning views!
