Yosemite

Benton
At the Inn at Benton Hot Springs they have simple RV sites with a twist – what a treat!  Hot-tubbing under the stars and again before leaving in the morning.

Mono Lake
After a visit to the Information Center and watching the video ‘The Spirit of Yosemite’ we had a lovely walk at the Petrified Springs.  Fascinating formations caused by the bubbling springs.

Panum Crater – the newest crater in North America
An invigorating uphill hike with some great views of Mono Lake - and so much Obsidian.

Yosemite!
We stayed at The Mono Vista RV Park in Lee Vining  and took the motorcycle into Yosemite.  We went straight to Yosemite Valley, parked and made use of the shuttle bus for the day.
Our first stop was Vernal Falls – a bit of an upward hike, but worth the views.  We then walked the woodsy path (2.9 miles) to Mirror Lake for a picnic lunch.  After that we hopped on the shuttle bus for some great views of El Capitan followed by a visit to Yosemite Falls.

Oh yes, the bear - thankfully on the other side of the river!

The next day we returned as far as Bridalveil Falls and took a couple more shots of El Capitan.  Then we headed to Merced Grove for a lovely hike in the woods to view some spectacular Sequoia’s.  A couple of photo stops at Lambert Dome and the Park Entrance for a confirmation that we actually survived -1°C on the motorbike as well as 2 hours each way - ouch!  (At least the -1° was only for a short time getting up to +17°C  at our destination).
