Things were pretty uneventful until we left for Comox on July 19th, and then of course, we didn't arrive until the 20th, and picked up Joel in Vancouver on our way. (Good thing my Mom and Dad have lots of room.) Then we started hopping. First we bought an old Honda Accord (1994) which Dad will store for us, and got the motor-home ready for George and Johanne. They were there for the first week, so we had a great visit with them and were busy sorting out things for Elsie who is still enjoying being at Berwick. We also celebrated Elsie's Birthday for the first of three times since George and Johanne had to leave.
And of course, Dale got his airplane up and flying, and we had our annual trip out to Cowichan Lake at Paul and Cheryl's. Shelley and Jim hosted their annual 'Big Chill' weekend, and thanks to the fantastic weather, we managed to fly in to theirs as well. I think I was the only one basking in the +30C, since it had been +34C in Cyprus for weeks.
Next on the agenda was a trip over to Vancouver for Rita's surprise 50th. It was fabulous. We had a wonderful reunion with the Winnipeg gang including Sheldon and Suellen, Laura and Derek and Lisa. Not to mention meeting up with Jake and Johanne and of course, Rita's family. What a great party. I think we enjoyed it as much as Rita. Joel and Adam and Natalie joined us as well, and we were all delighted to catch up with Mike and Jenny and Adrian too. Adrian did such a fantastic job organizing that all we had to do was eat, drink and be merry!

Back to Comox again, and many thanks to all including my Mom, for so many lunch and dinner invitations. I am just sorry that the time went by so quickly that we didn't manage to see everyone. We are truly blessed by such good friends and will have no trouble repatriating in the not-too-distant future. We also had the second of Elsie's Birthday celebrations, since it was actually the 3rd.
Her third party was shared by my Dad's Birthday on the 7th, in the lovely private dining room at Berwick. I finally remembered to take some family photos, which you can see.

The next day was the 5th Annual Bocce Ball Tournament hosted in Merville by Frank and Barb, and Peter and Melodie. There were 94 people participating this year with at least 12 courts marked off on Frank and Barb's lawn. It was great fun, followed by a marvelous supper of spaghetti and sauce, garlic bread, salad and goodies. And they raised over $4600. for Breast Cancer. Fantastic event! Wish we could make it every year but 3/5 isn't too bad.

And then came the big rush to pack up the plane, the motor-home and the car. Not to mention some last minute shopping for necessities to take back to Cyprus, and a few more visits with friends.
So, here I am back to our +34C and Dale has already left for work. He almost had to leave the same day we arrived, but thankfully, managed to get a 24 hour delay. I now get to do the unpacking and laundry and getting some of the dust out that accumulated while we were away. No complaints though as I will also start re-connecting with friends here, although many are still away because of the heat. Also, everything shuts down here in August, so no chance of getting very much done.
Bye for now and take care. Hopefully I'll have something to write about sooner than later.
Love,
Laurel
