November 15, 2008

Hi there,
Just to let you know that we are thinking of you. We have been really busy since Mom and Dad left. I think they were sufficiently exhausted to be glad to have missed the rest. We have been over to Jed and Mags for dinner and Hazel's too; had a group of church friends over here for dinner; we went to see the Nicosia Symphony in Paphos; and have played bridge several times. Mike's 70th Birthday Party at the Secret Valley Clubhouse was definitely a highlight. It was a great party, superb food with a terrific singer named Maggie. We ate and chit-chatted and danced all night.
The next evening was a ladies night out. Aphrodite Hills Spa had a promotion and for 15 euros one got to sample several of their treatments. I managed to fit in a foot massage, head massage, Thai massage, and finger and toenail painting. That plus a couple of glasses of champagne and hors d'oeuvres made it a really fun evening.
We also made plans to go out for Indian food the next evening as Maureen's husband was billed as Country and Western. Thank goodness it was also lots of 'Eagles" tunes etc.
Today, as a break from my Greek homework, we went for lunch in Mandria and tried to find some of the local antiquities (we found the sugar cane factory and an old bunker). We had a lovely walk along the beach in our still sunny 24C. It is cooling off at night though, so we have to start bringing jackets with us when we go out for the day.
I think I am caught up for now. Next week promises to be a bit quieter, so we will let you know if anything interesting comes up.
Take care and bye for now.
Love,
Laurel
